Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves

Lucky Break-Woman Steals From Dow

Productos-DOWIt is very rare that I come across a case where an accused is afforded the justice to amend their wrong without going to prison. However, a Midland County Circuit Court afforded CrimeDivas Jennifer Kay Reid this lucky break.

Ms. Reid was charged with embezzling $26,749 from The Dow Chemical Company. According to court records, Ms. Reid was charged after a Dow investigation found that she had used the company’s charge card for personal use on items ranging from cash advances, to a new bedroom set. It was noted that she also submitted a $3200 invoice for educational classes.

The judge granted a delay of one year for Ms. Reid is to pay the restitution in full. She wille on probation and has to pay court fines.

Those of you who follow this blog know this is a rare court ruling and the reality is that most convicted go to prison, and for far less. I commend the court for making should a decision. I don’t believe sending someone to prison for this crime is the right answer, nor do I believe it serves as a means of justice. Prison is only an extreme form of punishment. This does not take away the effect from of this legal ordeal and the damage it has and will have on Ms. Reid’s life. It is my hope that Ms. Reid will contact us to share her experience so that others will avoid this situation in their lives.

Finally, and fortunately, Ms. Reid lives in Michigan, after five years she will be able to seek enpungement of her criminal record.

What are your thoughts on how the court handled this case? Please share by replying.

This same sitting midland county for forgery after writing checks for personal gain without his knowledge. Guess she didn’t make use of this “lucky break”

I applaud the court and Judge for this decision, I feel that this will be more effective than prison
