Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves
Today’s CrimeDiva, Joleen Cameron, 43, of Omaha, was convicted for helping her father Dennis Hesman, 66,and Kathy Springer-Hesman; 51, steal from his employer nearly $2.5 million. Mr. Hesman during these legal proceeding died. It was reported that the three created fake grain receipts at the Fremont gain elevator he ran for Gailon, an Omaha-based commodities company.
According to records, prosecutors reduced the charges against Ms. Cameron from felonies in exchange for Cameron’s pleas of theft by receiving stolen property, and two counts of attempted filing false income tax returns, all Class I misdemeanors.
Ms. Cameron was found guilty, but luckily sentenced to 18 months of probation and a suspended 350-day jail sentence.
Had her father lived things might have turned out differently as he was charged with 10 counts of theft by deception and one count conspiracy to commit theft by deception. Each count is a Class III felony and carried a potential one- to 20-year prison sentence. Mr. Hesman allegedly, falsified documents between 2007 and 2013 that led to his receiving nearly $2.5 million. He allegedly created two tickets for a load of commodities as it was on the scale. The second false-ticket would be made out to a third party, sent to Gavilon’s accounting department, and a settlement check would be sent out.
