Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves

A money order for you and one for, says the postal clerk!

amoA Morgantown woman was convicted in federal court for embezzlement, theft, and conversion of government monies, according to U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld.

Samantha Christopher, 35, embezzled nearly $12,500 in money order funds while employed as a Postal Contract Station Clerk for the United States Postal Service, according to an investigation by the Postal Service Office of Inspector General. Christopher faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Apparently, the postal clerk was processing money orders for her own use. Unfortunately, this is nothing new. There have been many postal clerks convicted of the same crime and have and are serving time in the federal prison systems. It doesn’t make sense here because the amount here is less than a 3th of what her annual income was, now she has lost her job, has a criminal record, and on average with these cases will do some time as a form of punishment.
