Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves
“Here’s another one of those cases when you say, “What the hell were you thinking” to the mother? Please note this blog site is not to belittle any of these women, but to display the crime and keep others from committing these crimes. But, I’m human too, and some days I get close to the edge with some of these cases, what about you? But . . . I’m not going there today.
Today’s CrimeDivas are a mother and daughter team, Sandra Campbell, 60, and daughter, Domonique Campbell, 39, of Detroit, MI. The mother was sentenced to 70 months in prison the later part of 2013 [went to trial, bad move] on charges of program fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, and tax charges. The daughter was sentenced to 36 months in prison. Just imagine a mother and daughter sharing a prison cell together, how heartbreaking. But, it happens, not only mother and daughter, but grandmothers too.
According to records, during 2004 – 2008, the mother was a contract accountant for the Detroit Public Schools and the daughter was a school teacher. One of the two came up with a scheme to form a fake company, they then placed orders for school books through this fake company, collected the money, didn’t send any books, and didn’t pay taxes. They were caught, prosecuted, and now both will be doing time in a federal prison.
You can imagine the anger and outrage the parents in this struggling city felt. If you are like me you would wonder where were the ‘checks and balances’ in the school system. As you probably have noticed from reading these posts that these positions where white-collar crimes often occur usually have no accountability in place, which in my opinion should be done at least quarterly before the situation get too far out of hand. We live in a world of greed and forgotten moral values, its sad to say, but it is a fact and places of businesses whether private or public have to take measures to prevent these occurrences from happening.
