Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves

Tax Fraud Season and Crime Convictions Season!

irs     I have been writing this blog for nearly a year now and I can’t believe that folks are still out there running ‘rob the IRS of tax refund fraud’. They are begging for prison time and there’s no getting out of that, not when you steal from ‘Uncle Sam’.  I found this cartoon on Google Images and thought it was so appropriate for this posting. Today posting is only one of many tax fraud conviction cases I came across, but wanted to make this brief.

Today’s CrimeDiva, Erica Jacovia Bryant, 33, of Miramar, FL, was convicted of tax refund fraud after a two-day trial in federal court. [Totally a bad decision, that is, to go to trial. I’ve written time and time again that when you make them (prosecutors) go to trial they throw the book at you. So for fraudulently obtaining $110,859, Ms. Bryant is facing up to 60 months in prison, three years probation, which means if she does anything wrong or illegal she can be sent back to prison for up to three years, has to pay a fine of $250,000, and will have to pay the IRS $100,653 in restitution. They seized her 2013 Lincoln MKZ and sold it.

This was a very bad decision on Ms. Bryant behalf.  Just think about it. If she had worked a job and got paid– say, $10 an hour, full-time for five years she would have made over $100,000. Now she’s going to prison likely for years; she’s going to have a criminal record for life because it’s a federal offense and there is no expungement; she’s going to have a hard time securing employment and when she does she will have to pay the government back the money she illegal acquired, the list goes on. So for the very brief enjoyment of illegal acquired funds she will have lifetime consequences. This is why I have created this blog site. So we — I say we because I truly need you to inform others of it so that they can read about these women bad decisions and they will hopefully as you did tell someone else about it so that we can continue to pass the word that “Crime does not pay!” As a matter of fact if you commit a white-collar crime you will pay a lifetime in one way or another.
