Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves

Cattle Fraud

Here’s one of those cases of Paul stealing from Peter to feed John, or however that saying goes. I am really surprised, due to the money involved, this woman did not get any prison time. It makes you wonder who she knows. I have posted a few articles when a person has stolen under $10,000 and received prison time, but this woman who embezzled $211,000 was given 2 years’ probation. Interesting!

The post for tomorrow involves over $42 million and the woman in that case was given probation also.  This unsettled the prosecutor to the point he/she took the case to the court of appeals.

The lucky CrimeDiva today is, Carrie L. Frederick, 37, of Sterling, Kan.  Ms. Frederick was convicted of one count of wire fraud and sentenced to two years of probation and will be required to pay $80,000 in restitution.

According to the record, Ms. Frederick worked for Golden Belt Feeders, Inc., and owed the company $150,000 for trading cattle transactions when she was on the board.  She went to work for Sellers Farm’s and whiles there made three illegal transactions that caused funds to be sent to Golden Belt Feeder to be paid on the debt she owed them.

The sentencing guidelines indicated that she faced a maximum prison sentence of 30 years, some serious time to end up with 2 years’ probation.  I am happy that she has been given a chance to show that she is and can be a law abiding citizen.  In over 95% or more of federal cases, especially when the money is over $50,000, the defendants are sentenced to some prison time.  When we see cases like this, one can’t help but to ask the question, “Who did she know?”
