Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves
I came across an article that had an unusual white-collar crime and I thought it was something we all should be aware of. Unfortunately, several families in Jasper County, MO were not.
The Crime Divas for today is Gloria Sheller, 57, of Jasper County. She made the list not because of the money amount, but the crime– taking advantage of fellow humans at a devastating time (No time is appropriate) – after a tornado had swept through their homes. Ms. Scheller has been sentenced to four years of probation for defrauding victims of the 2011 Joplin tornado.
Ms Sheller was sentenced for unlawful merchandising practices and public adjusting without a license. She and her ex-husband were charged in March 2012 with taking over $38,000 of insurance money from property owners without performing the promised repairs. They were not licensed.
When dealing with contractors, even if you have heard of them, check out their credentials with the State Board of Licensing or whatever department that handle the license in your state.
Do you know what unlawful merchandising practices are?
Do you know what public adjusting is?
Have you notice that over 90% of the CrimeDivas are middle-age women?
The mission of this site is to prevent professional, educated, and career-minded females from committing white-collar crimes; to educate, and confabulate with others who have an interest in this epic situation and who has a desire to make a difference.
