Female White-Collar Crime Divas-Mordern Day Thieves
To those of you reading this blog, this is an example of how easy it is for someone to get caught up in a crime, whether it was through ignorance (and being a state supreme court justice that’s doubtful), or intentionally.
According to the New York Times, the State of Michigan Supreme Court Judge Diane Hathaway was trying to get away with an illegal real estate transaction. The Judge allegedly orchestrated a short sale for a property she owned to a relative to quality for a home in the riche community in Gross Pointe, Michigan. The NY Times reports that she did not disclosed this transaction, which means she falsified documents to the bank.
Is this the dirt of politics? I suspect that it is. Somehow a Detroit television station got wind of this information and broke the story. Keep in mind the election was in progress when this investigation started and then charges followed. The Judge is resigning from her post and is expected to plea guilty to the charge. Do you think this carry any prison time?
Most people would probably think that this transaction is of no big deal and probably should not be illegal, but as a judge she knew better so she is held at a higher standard of responsiblity.
If you would like to read more interesting things about who’s in prison, check out the book, Humor From Behind the Walls and Other Non-Sense, by DeVine, available at Amazon.com here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Humor-Behind-Walls-Other-NonSense/dp/0984519912/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359079077&sr=1-3&keywords=humor+from+behind+the+walls+-+devine
